About Us

Big Bend Orthodontics is a boutique orthodontic office without a boutique price. Dr. Heidi is a lifelong Webster/Crestwood resident, attending Mary, Queen of Peace, Cor Jesu Academy, and St. Louis University. Before becoming an orthodontist, she was active-duty Army for 6 years and this Spring will retire from the Army after a 40-year career. She takes great pride in having an all-female staff and doing all the orthodontic/dental work herself, something you will NOT find in other offices. Her attention to detail, along with follow up care after orthodontic work is completed, shows she wants the best possible end for treatment.

FAQ

Do you accept dental insurance?
Yes. While we are out of network with all dental insurance providers, many insurance plans still offer orthodontic benefits for out-of-network treatment. Coverage varies by plan, and some plans, such as Medicaid, do not provide orthodontic benefits through our office. We are happy to submit claims to your insurance company on your behalf and help you maximize any available benefits.
Do you accept Medicaid?
No, we do not accept Medicaid.
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes! We are currently accepting new orthodontic patients. At this time, we are not accepting new general dentistry patients.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes! We offer complimentary orthodontic consultations so you can meet with our team, discuss your concerns, and learn about your treatment options.
What is the process for starting traditional braces?
Beginning orthodontic treatment typically involves the following steps:

Complimentary Consultation – Meet with the orthodontist to discuss your smile goals and determine whether treatment is recommended.
Diagnostic Records Appointment – We take X-rays, photographs, and impressions (or other diagnostic records) to create a personalized treatment plan. A fee applies for this visit.
Treatment Consultation – We'll review your customized treatment plan, discuss insurance benefits, and go over payment options.
Braces Placement – Your braces are placed, and you'll receive instructions on caring for your new smile.

In some cases, the consultation and diagnostic records appointments can be combined. Likewise, the treatment consultation and braces placement may also be completed during the same visit.
What is the process for starting clear aligner treatment?
The process is very similar to traditional braces:

Complimentary Consultation
Diagnostic Records & Digital Scan – Instead of traditional impressions, we'll take a digital scan of your teeth to create your custom aligners.
Treatment Consultation – We'll review your treatment plan, discuss insurance benefits, and explain your payment options.
Aligner Production & Delivery – A down payment is required before your custom aligners are manufactured. Once they arrive, we'll ensure they fit properly and provide instructions for wearing and caring for them.
